Precise Diagnostic Testing for Pets of the Upper West Side

cat having blood sample drawn for diagnostic tests

Our services are only as good as they are appropriate. Diagnostic testing, run through our in-house laboratory, is how we determine an effective treatment for your pet.

Here are the types of diagnostic testing we do:

Allergy Testing

When your dog or cat is excessively scratching or sneezing or dripping from the eyes, it’s likely he or she is experiencing an allergic reaction to the environment or to food. We’ll run skin tests and blood tests to determine exactly what it is that’s bugging your pet.

Electrocardiography (ECG)

Early detection of heart disease is critical. An ECG produces a readout of the electrical activity of your pet’s heart. Specifically, we can determine:

  • Heart rate
  • Heart rhythm
  • Potential heartbeat irregularities (arrhythmias)

Ultrasound

This noninvasive diagnostic technique can be used for far more than examining pregnant bellies.

Some of the common uses for ultrasound are to diagnose or examine:

  • Heart murmurs
  • Irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia)
  • Labored breathing
  • Birth defects
  • Liver disease
  • Kidney disease
  • Pregnancy
  • Urinary bladder disease
  • Screening for cancer

What’s the best part about ultrasound? It uses no radiation (unlike X-rays) to gather diagnostic data.

From cancer to parasites, blood tests, urine samples, and stool samples are the other ways we gather data to diagnose your pet’s issues.

Our diagnostic services are also only as good as our staff. Our team of veterinarians and vet techs are highly skilled and trained, not only in terms of conducting tests, but also in terms of communicating with you, the client.
